Our celebratory evening, ‘Speech Night,’ where we recognise the achievements of 2023/2024, took place at the Citadel, in Sale.
The evening opened with a brilliant string ensemble of "John Ryan's Polka" which got everyone in the spirit for celebration. Mr Booth welcomed everyone and spoke about what it actually means to be a ‘Forester’, before a very moving whole school song ‘As Long as I have Music’.
Mr Booth reminded the audience that the school will be entering its Centenary year in September. He also revealed the Centenary logo which will be used from September for the 2024/25 academic year.
Awards were given in a number of categories including Maths, Reading, Progress and Endeavour for each year group. As always, a big fuss was made of Year 6, the Class of 2024.They were all recognised individually for their unique contribution to school life. This ranged from Friendship, to Public Speaking, to Music.
Our school charity of the year, Little Green Sock Project were overwhelmed to receive a cheque for over £3,000 by our PA Reps and thanked the PA and the whole school community for all the fund raising work.
Mr Edwards, humbly accepted The Kendrew Shield for ‘Enhancing Life at School’.
The evening was brought to a close with an inspirational poem ‘Can’t’ by Edgar Albert Guest, read by Mrs Budd, before a full audience participation of the Forest Hymn, ‘Living and Learning.’
All staff, pupils and parents had a lovely evening reminiscing and reflecting on the highlights of the 2023/2024 academic year.
