Year 2 Shine in their Times Tables
A huge well done to our fantastic Year 2 pupils, who have been working incredibly hard to improve and secure their times tables knowledge as they become truly Year 3 ready!
Their progress has been greatly supported by our brilliant Maths Buddy Champs initiative alongside Year 4. Throughout the summer term, Year 4 pupils have been mentoring and encouraging Year 2, helping them to build confidence, accuracy and speed with their times tables.
Today saw the launch of our exciting Champions League Competition, where Year 2 and Year 4 went head to head in a special times tables challenge! To ensure the competition was fair and equally challenging to both year groups, a handicap system was introduced for the older Year 4 pupils.
After the competition, Year 4 pupils marked the Year 2 times tables papers and offered helpful advice and strategies for working out any tricky questions. This mentoring experience is helping Year 4 develop important leadership, communication, teamwork and coaching skills, while Year 2 continue strengthening the mathematical foundations needed for Year 3 and beyond.
Times tables are such an important part of Maths, and we are incredibly proud of the determination, encouragement and teamwork shown by both year groups today!

From leading award winning performances and nurturing a lifelong love of music in our pupils, to championing the values of #theforestway, Ms Wellings has already made an extraordinary impact across our whole school community. We look forward to seeing all that this next chapter will bring.
