Learning Beyond the Classroom
As we look ahead to September, we`re excited for even more lessons to take place in our Outdoor Learning Classroom, where the curriculum comes to life through practical, hands-on experiences in the great outdoors.
This year our pupils have:
🌳 Explored habitats through science investigations.
🪴 Developed their understanding of plants and life cycles through gardening and growing.
🐞 Observed minibeasts and the changing seasons to deepen their scientific enquiry skills.
📏 Applied maths through measuring, estimating and problem-solving in real life situations.
✍️ Used the natural environment to inspire descriptive writing, poetry and storytelling.
🤝 Worked collaboratively to solve challenges, developing resilience, communication and teamwork.
Outdoor learning activities are carefully planned to support our curriculum while encouraging curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning. Our Outdoor Learning Classroom has become an important part of school life, with pupils embracing opportunities to investigate, explore and discover in meaningful ways.
We can`t wait to see even more learning taking place outside next year as our children continue to ask questions and learn by doing.

🎉 20 Years of Mrs Burns at Forest! 🎉
This September marks an incredible milestone for one of our much-loved Foresters.
💜 Mrs Burns joined Forest as our Reception Teacher working as a job-share with Mrs Thomson before moving to a full time post in Year 1 the following year. That was where she began working with the legendary, Mrs Wells and where the two of them continue to this very day.
💜 Mrs Burns is the ultimate Year 1 Teacher. Her big heart shines out each day with our 5 and 6 year olds. Whenever anyone needs a warm smile, kind word or good fun, you know Mrs Burns will always have the power to make you feel good. She has the natural ability to achieve incredibly high standards whilst pouring love and affection into every child she teaches.
