Sharing a Good Book

Sharing a Good Book

Every Friday afternoon, Mr Bullock, the Reception teacher, welcomes a ‘VIP reader’ into the classroom to share one of their favourite books. The ‘VIP’ is usually a parent or grandparent of one of the children.

The VIP Reader initiative helps to promote a love for reading amongst the Reception class. The children hear a variety of stories that they may have never encountered before and each reader delivers a story very differently, speaking and reading in different tones and rhythms. Even puppets have made an appearance to bring a story to life. The children are also excited to see their Mummy or Daddy/Grandma or Grandpa read to all their peers who can’t resist bringing a chocolate treat for everyone!

Thank you to all our VIP readers so far, you really are helping our children develop their reading skills.
