On Remembrance Day, our entire school came together in a solemn two-minute silence to honour and remember all those who have fought and sacrificed for our freedoms.
Children and staff assembled around the school’s air-raid shelter, creating a poignant setting for the commemorative service. The ceremony began with a moving performance of the traditional Last Post, played by AW, marking the start of the silence. The atmosphere was filled with respect and reflection as the whole school community paid their respects. The service concluded with BB playing the Rouse, symbolizing hope and renewal.
Significant moments of the ceremony were when Head Boy, KS and Head Girl, SM laid a wreath of poppies, a timeless symbol of remembrance and gratitude and seeing our youngest Foresters, many only 2 years old, stand in silence for the two minutes. The children at Forest learn about this special day from a very young age in their own special way, so they will grow up to appreciate all our veterans.
As a school, we value the importance of marking this historic occasion, encouraging our children to connect with a key part of British heritage. Through this act of reflection and the lessons taught in class, we hope to instill a sense of respect and understanding in our children for the sacrifices made by previous generations.
