Forest Preparatory School has always been proud of the vast array of extra-curricular opportunities we are able to offer to our children: from cooking to debate club. Over the past 18 months, Chess Club has proven to be one of the most successful clubs in terms of uptake and has produced some inter-school champions along the way. Run by former British Ladies Champion, Sarah Hegarty, it has provided children with the opportunity to learn the basics of the game and perhaps progress on to learning and developing more advanced strategies.
Keen to keep chess thriving during the pandemic, Sarah set up her own online chess club. A couple of week ago, they had the first Forest Prep competition, with some amazing results. Well done to our school winner, Year 6 pupil (SF), our runner up (DW) and third place medal holder- Year 4’s BF.
The players then had a school’s team battle, with Forest Prep coming 4th overall, with 5 players taking part. Click here to see the results.
