New Nursery Setting

New Nursery Setting

This September we opened the door to our new nursery setting, led by our new nursery manager, Miss Bardsley. One of our priorities in the school progress plan is to provide a dynamic and enriching learning environment for our very youngest pupils. By the way our youngest Foresters have settled and are starting to thrive, we feel we are well on our way to achieving this priority.

The Nursery has lots of great facilities and is made up of many different play stations including a home area, reading tippee station, dressing-up area with a big mirror to encourage imaginative play, and art and construction area.

Outdoors we have a much-loved boat, planters for growing vegetables, activity tuff tray with ever-changing toys/crafts, and natural mud kitchen, to name but a few. Using the new, large space in the outside area, you can see and hear their confidence, happiness and enthusiasm growing each day.

Miss Bardsley said, ‘We are really pleased with our new Nursery and all that it has to offer. Our children enjoy coming into school each day and are eager to explore and learn. We follow a learn through play approach and plan in the moment following the interests of the children. We also enjoy weekly music, French and Sports lessons which are taught by our Forest school specialist teachers. In January we are going to be starting our ‘Forest School Explorers’ sessions which will involve weekly outdoor learning opportunities as well as gardening sessions in our ‘Nursery Allotment’.

Miss Dulson, our experienced Nursery Practitioner added, “We are lucky to have easy access to a safe, secure all weather play area. The overhead canopy protects the outdoor space from the rain and the soft play surface ensures all children can continue to have fun whilst learning through play'.

From January 2023 our Nursery will be open all year round. In a busy working world we are very mindful that parents require support with childcare during the school holidays, coupled with the fact that research shows the Early Years are the most critical years for development. We believe this will allow our youngest Foresters to develop and thrive within safe, secure and well established surroundings.

Many happy times ahead for this fantastic little bunch!
