In a touching tribute to Remembrance Day, we hosted a heartwarming school assembly, alongside the grandparents of Year 5 and 6 pupils, who were also invited to this special event.
The grandparents were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed tea and cake in the hall after the assembly, enabling them to spend valuable time with their grandchildren and see them in their school setting with their friends.
The highlight of the event came as all pupils, from the 2 year olds in Nursery to the oldest year group, staff, and our special guests - grandparents, gathered around the air-raid shelter. Together, they observed a poignant two-minute silence, paying homage to those who sacrificed their lives for their country. The atmosphere was further enriched as two students, AW and BB, played the traditional 'Last Post.'
The morning aimed to connect the children with a crucial part of British history, allowing them to not only learn about the sacrifices made. but also to honour and respect those who came before them. We were proud to provide our Foresters with the opportunity to share this special occasion with their much-loved grandparents.
Thank you to all the grandparents who attended, we were honoured to host you.
