A Party Fit for a King

A Party Fit for a King

At Forest we love to have fun so to mark the King's Coronation we held a special ‘Coronation Celebration’. Occasions like this only happen once or twice in our lifetime, we like to make a big deal of it, in the hope that the children might remember this day for a long time. Good memories live on!

‘Forest does the Coronation’ started with all children coming to school in fancy dress. The dress code was red, white or blue OR 1950s/1960s/1970s/1980s. All classes took part in a dance workshop, where they danced to famous songs from various decades, which was run by an outside specialist dance company. We’re not sure who enjoyed dancing more, teachers or pupils, they all really had the moves.

We hosted a whole school street-party-style lunch on the playground, before cutting the Coronation Cake, kindly donated by the PA. A DJ was on-site playing music for the afternoon plus lots of activities such as ‘hook a duck’, a ‘penalty shoot-out’ and the famous ‘Forest Tug of War’. The excitement really kicked up a gear when the children spotted the bouncy castle and when the ice-cream van arrived everyone was treated to a traditional ‘99’. The children devoured their ice-creams and there were a few sticky faces to wipe!

Our little school really did have a magical day!
