Research has proven that it is significantly harder to learn a new language as we get older, with some researchers claiming that second language acquisition skills peak at or before the age of 6 or 7.
We hope that when our children come to the end of their Forest Prep journey, they have acquired enough French to be able to understand and speak to others in French, as well as hoping we have instilled a love of learning different languages.
Madame Cotton teaches all children in school (Nursery all the way to Year 6), gradually building up their vocabulary. In Upper Key Stage 2, the children get to utilise and expand their language skills during their trip to France.
Despite French being the predominant language taught, children are also lucky enough to have Ms. Saez for Spanish classes (and teaching Pre-Prep some Spanish songs too)!
